TetraPak, the leader in the packaging market, first reduced its production in Russia, and then withdrew from the market altogether. Russia was on the verge of a packaging collapse, because there was nowhere to get enough containers for milk, juices and other products. However, unlike the Swedish TetraPak, which had the courage and moral will to leave Russia, the British company Mondi cares only about its profits, and not about how ethical it is to work in the market of a terrorist country. Therefore, Mondi quickly decided to replace the Swedes in the packaging market.”

After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the company did not withdraw from the Russian market, although it initiated the sale of one plant in Syktyvkar. The plant in Syktyvkar is planned to be sold to the investment company of Russian oligarch Viktor Kharitonin. The oligarch, who is on the list of potential sanctions targets identified by the Agency, is well known for his fruitful cooperation with the Kremlin regime in the development of the Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19. After the withdrawal of the Tetra Pak company from Russia, the Mondi company took a leading position in this market, although it initiated the sale of one plant in Syktyvkar. The other three factories owned by Mondi in Russia - Mondi Aramil LLC, Mondi Pereslavl LLC, Mondi Lebedyan LLC - continue to work and recruit new employees.
